TIPS FOR HUNTERS
-
When transporting game, keep the animal well ventilated and clean.
-
To prevent the spoilage of meat in wild game, open the back of the neck with your knife. Cut from the back of the head along the spine until you reach the first feather bone. You will see two yellow straps on both sides. This cut allows heat to escape, preserving more of your meat.
-
If the hair on your animal is hard to pick off, you can remove its tongue and use that to help get rid of excess fur. It works like a cat’s tongue as it cleans itself.
-
When you shoot a large animal in warm weather, you need to keep it cool and get it in as fast as you can. Do not leave the intestine in your animal overnight as you will lose it to bone sour and gases. You spent the money to get it, take care of it.
